Leeds United have confirmed the club’s 2022/23 home kit will go on general sale at 9am on Wednesday 24 August. The Whites unveiled the shirt all the way back in July during the club’s pre-season tour of Australia but have suffered with some major supply issues over the summer. A severe Covid outbreak in Singapore, where the kits are manufactured, were the cause of the initial hold up. A boat coming in from south-east Asia holding several shipping containers of the club’s home strip then plummeted into the sea which sparked an even further delay. But fans will now finally be able to purchase the new home strip starting from tomorrow.
Leeds United statement read: “Leeds United are pleased to announce that our adidas home kit for the 2022/23 campaign will be available to purchase from Wednesday 24th August online at shop.leedsunited.com and in all official Leeds United retail stores. Season Ticket Holders and Members will once again have an exclusive priority window to purchase online between 8am and 9am on Wednesday morning, with the kit then available on general sale from 9am both in-store and online. Please note that only adult and junior kits will be available to purchase from Wednesday 24th August, whilst women’s kits, mini kits and baby kits will be available to pre-order due to ongoing issues with supply. The home shirt, which was unveiled during the pre-season tour to Australia, is a celebration of the club and its loyal supporters, in our classic colours of white, yellow, and blue. The kit has once again been produced in partnership with the club’s official technical kit partner adidas, using a high-performance recycled material that is soft and textured, with the AEROREADY fabric featuring the iconic LUFC script throughout to recognise the 50th anniversary of the 1972 FA Cup winning side. The adult home replica shirt is sponsored by SBOTOP for a third successive year, along with our new sleeve partner for the season Wish. This is the second of our 22/23 kits to be released with our much sought after Away shirt already available to purchase online and in-store. Leeds United will look to offload out of favour winger Ian Poveda, Jesse Marsch has confirmed. Poveda isn’t currently part of Marsch’s first-team plans at Elland Road and therefore he could be set for a move away, either on loan or permanent, before the transfer window slams shut on September 1. He failed to feature in any of Leeds’ five pre-season friendlies, either, with Marsch preferring to go in a different direction with his selection. As such, his future is up in the air at present and he could be one to leave West Yorkshire in the coming days.
Jesse March said: “With Ian, it hasn’t been easy for him because he hasn’t featured really too much with us in pre-season. “But he’s had an incredible mentality and worked really hard every day and he’s a good guy to have around. It’s likely that we probably find another solution for him for a loan in this time, but that’s not set in stone. He’s been really good with the whole process and we want we want him to find a place to play.”
The Whites have no plans to allow Mateo Joseph to make a loan move, though, as they continue to monitor his progress closely. The Spaniard has scored five goals in three outings for Michael Skubala’s under-21s this season so far and he has certainly caught the head coach’s attention with his performances. However, Leeds won’t be sending him out to the Football League or elsewhere to pick up senior minutes over the next few months. Instead, they will keep him at Thorp Arch and look to nurture his development with Marsch hinting that first-team opportunities may fall his way should he continue to shine.
Jesse March added: “Mateo Joseph will stay. I think he’ll continue to work with the 21s and continue to mature and grow. I had a good video meeting with him and we’re really happy with him and I think he’s inching himself closer and closer to first-team possibilities.”
Marsch is expected to rotate his team this week for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Barnsley and Joseph could even be one of the youngsters called up to be involved in some capacity.
