Harry Kane said: “He’s an unbelievable player, and what a goal to do it. I’m extremely proud of him, we’ve known each other for a long time now and I’ve been there to see all of his goals. Full credit to him. He works so hard behind the scenes, he’s a really good guy and that finish was really, really special. He should be proud, and we’re all proud of him. He just brings a good energy around the training ground, even when things aren’t going so well, you can count on him to get everyone going. On the pitch, the way he presses, the way he runs with the ball, he’s such an exciting player. I’ve been lucky enough to play with him for a while now. Hopefully we’ll both have a strong end to the season.”
Becoming the first Asian player to reach 100 Premier League goals is a source of great pride for Son, who hopes the feat will inspire others.
Harry Kane said: “That is incredible. That makes me really, really happy. I think it’s a big responsibility. All the Asian players, especially the South Korean players, they can believe that they can also achieve the big things if they work hard. If they keep working and they keep dreaming, I hope they can also achieve the big things. For me it’s very special. Always to be first is something special. It was a big, big achievement for me but I still want to keep scoring a lot of goals for the people and for me and to make people happy, and make them believe they can do something also.”
When describing his goal and the ability to run inside from the flank,
Harry Kane said: “I try to always be in this position but sometimes it’s difficult because they [the opposition] don’t want me to shoot in this position, but it’s also that we’re sometimes crossing the ball more so I have to be in the box so I can leave the wing-backs in a one vs one situation. It’s all about different situations and I have to read the game better. If I’m in this position I’m really, really confident about scoring those goals. Look at last season and you can see how many goals I scored in this position. If I have these chances I can score more goals. It was a very special goal because scoring 100 goals in this position where I love to shoot is just incredible. It’s a really special moment.”
