Frank Lampard said Everton’s travelling supporters played a major role in the club’s first away win since August. The sold-out away end provided the soundtrack to the Blues’ 2-1 victory, their voices dominating the King Power Stadium for much of the match – and then long after it. Asked whether he had a message for those fans Lampard, who was filmed ‘fist-bumping’ young supporters as the coaches pulled out of Finch Farm,

Frank Lampard said: “It’s just a big thank you. It is such an experience for me to come here and see the club from the outside and understand its history and the passion and then to come here and actually feel it. What we had last week at Chelsea, what we had leaving Finch Farm yesterday, what we had today, it is incredible. They should give themselves a huge pat on the back – they are part of that result today. They pushed the players and that is why we celebrate with them at the end, nothing’s done so I went back out there at the end because they don’t want to go home, they want to stay here and have a party. With their influence, with their togetherness, and what we can do with it – I’m not shouting from the rooftops, we are still in a relegation fight – but if we want to get out of it it has to be together as a club and we have seen that in recent weeks so just a huge thank you to them.”
