West Ham United manager David Moyes admits he is “hating every minute” of the Hammers’ current form after five straight Premier League defeats.

David Moyes said: “I want to tell you, underneath I am really emotional and passionate and wanting to get a result. I am hating every minute of this because I have lost five games. I am hating every bit and the players need to know that too. Yes, I want to try and show my experience at times but don’t let it fool you for what I am really feeling underneath.”

For the players, it is largely a new experience, with the current squad being severely overhauled from the one Moyes first inherited upon the start of his second spell three years ago. Despite Friday’s 2-0 home loss to Brentford, Moyes was positive about his side’s performance but has said that he will be the first to tell his players when they have not met the standards expected of them.

David Moyes said: “I would hope they do [understand how much Moyes hates it]. I want them to recognise that. I have to say that I only gave them positives for their performance in midweek, I thought they played really well. Sometimes what players want is for you to be honest. If they play well I would tell them. If they played rubbish and not played well, I would tell them that as well. Most people in life want to be told the truth. In midweek, the players played well and I don’t know if I want to say they deserved more out of it, but I would say they played better and we didn’t just get things on the night.”
