Kamal Sowah has left Leicester City for Belgian side Club Brugge. Sowah joined City in 2018 from the Right to Dream Academy in his native Ghana and was immediately loaned to Belgian side Oud-Heverlee Leuven, who are owned by King Power. He appeared in 72 matches for Leuven, scoring 13 times and registering 10 assists at Den Dreef during three-and-a-half years at the club. Sowah earned promotion with Leuven and came up against Brugge, where he has signed a four-year contract, twice. Reports in Ghana have claimed that the deal is worth around £8 million and add-ons but that has not been confirmed officially. Sowah leaves a day after City boss Brendan Rodgers said that any further transfer activity at the King Power Stadium this summer was dependent on the club selling players. The transfer window shuts at 11pm on Tuesday, August 31.
Brendan Rodgers said: “We would still like to do one or two things. We don’t have an endless pot of money and resources. We may have to move one or two out before we can look to get anything in. We have a brilliant group of players. When they are all fit, we have a squad that can challenge in every competition. I never want to complain about what we don’t have. We look to use the players that are available, honest guys that will always do their best.”
And Sowah’s departure has come shortly after reports in the Netherlands claimed that City are keen on a move for Ajax forward David Neres.
