Brendan Rodgers is confident James Maddison will still be a Leicester City player come February with the focus of the January transfer window on incoming and not outgoings.  Asked if he was confident Maddison would still be a City player at the end of the window,

Brendan Rodgers said: “Yes, absolutely. The key focus at the moment is getting him fit, getting him out on to the field again. He’s someone I want to keep here. He’s a top player. I’ve been given no indication that we have to do anything with James in January. When you have good players, it’s a good sign, they’ll always be coveted by other teams. That’s okay, I’m confident those players will be here. I don’t think anything changes on that front. My focus is on improving the squad, that’s what I want to do.”

Newcastle showed off their new financial might this year with £200m spent on signings like Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman who have helped turn them into a top-four contender. Although they have Financial Fair Play concerns, Rodgers expects them to continue seeking new players.

Brendan Rodgers said: “Newcastle have signed players who have improved the dynamic of the team. They’re trying to build something there, they’ll improve and get better. I’m sure they’ll strengthen their squad, and they’ll have the motivation to stay there [in the top four].”
