Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers feels his concerns over player welfare are not being heard. The Northern Irishman believes football doesn’t “come into it” despite a number of meetings with the Premier League.
Brendan Rodgers said: “Currently at this time, I would say no. We’ve had various meetings but the football doesn’t seem to come into it. It’s more about playing the games and what impact that has financially. As coaches and managers we’re more interested in the physical and mental welfare of our players. I hope that will be taken into consideration in January when there are more demands on players. It wouldn’t seem right to then be looking to add more fixtures into that. Yes, we played against Liverpool, but lost a player who’s a very important part of our team. The result doesn’t make everything right.”
