Andros Townsend has bid an emotional goodbye to Crystal Palace after officially sealing his move to Everton on a free transfer. The 30-year-old spent five years at Selhurst Park after arriving from Newcastle United in a deal worth £13million.

I’d like to say particular thank yous to the chairman for bringing me to Selhurst and giving me the opportunity to wear the red and blue, to Sam [Allardyce] and Roy [Hodgson] for their belief in me, and to my teammates for the special moments we enjoyed together on the pitch. Townsend had some memorable moments in the red and blue of Palace, scoring some stunning goals and helping to take the club to a period of unmatched stability in their Premier League history. His fantastic volley that helped seal a memorable 3-2 victory away to Manchester City in 2018 will live long in the memory of fans, later voted the Premier League Goal of the Season for 2018/19, as well as making the shortlist for the prestigious Puskas Award.
