The biggest transfer saga of that summer was finally over when Sheffield Wednesday boss Trevor Francis confirmed that the QPR player had signed for the Owls in a £2.75 million deal. Apparently Graeme Souness had made a late attempt to hijack the deal but his own board did not back him and the player moved to Hillsborough. Sinton had been linked with a move to Arsenal all summer before he decided to backtrack. But now he was a Wednesday player, just in time to face their next opponents, Arsenal.

Trevor Francis said “I am delighted the deal has gone through. Andy is an excellent player and a welcome addition tour squad.”
