Howard Kendall Everton
  • Howard Kendall declared his chase to Sign Brett Angell as over

Everton had lost interest in signing Southend Striker Brett Angell after manager Howard Kendall watched him in action for a second time against Bristol City. Southend lost 1-2 that their manager said he was disgusted with the performance.

Howard Kendall said “We shall not be taking our interest further. And I shall not be going to watch Angell play at Luton. Southend did not play very well and Angell did not have much of the ball, but I have seen him enough to make my decision. We had reached a provisional agreement on a fee but that was as far as we went. We shall continue our search.”
