Norwich had their sights set on a return to the top of the league and their striker Lee Power saw their upcoming match against Nottingham Forest as an ideal opportunity to go back to the summit once again. Their opponents were missing Roy Keane (Suspension), Robert Rosario (Suspension), Stuart Pearce (Injury), Scott Gemmill (Injury) and Steve Chettle (Injury) along with long term absentees Neil Webb and Terry Wilson.

Lee Power said “I know it sounds simple, but all we have to do is win all our remaining nine games and we are champions. And if Notts Forest are in trouble then its up to us to press home our advantage. An away win, that most vital of commodities at this time of the year would put us a point ahead and add to the pressure on Villa and United.”
Power was also hoping that his manager Mike Walker would give him the chance to line up alongside the returned Mark Robins in a game that he saw as a rela opportunity to stake a claim on the top spot.
