Howard Kendall called on his players to forget the disappointment of the unlucky defeat at Stamford Bridge and remember their wins over high flying Blackburn and Coventry as they went into a vital relegation battle with Nottingham Forest.

Howard Kendall said “We have generally been playing well with Tony Cottee nice and sharp at one end and Neville Southall reassuringly sound at the other. There is every reason for confidence so long as we don’t underestimate Forest. It was very disappointing to lose to Chelsea but there is no point looking back. We have to be positive.”
