Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson confirmed that his star striker Eric Cantona was suffering from a niggling hamstring injury for a fortnight and could miss the match against QPR. Cantona had not been on the losing side for Manchester United since his move from Leeds in a £1.2 million deal. But Ferguson said he didn’t want to take any risk with the player who had scored four goals in six games to put United as title favourites.

Alex Ferguson said “We will give Eric a fitness test before the game. The injury has been niggling him for a fortnight. With hamstrings, you must make sure that the player is absolutely right otherwise we could lose him for the next five games.”
