The premier league seesaw took a big swing a night earlier as Aston Villa scraped past Chelsea in a tight contest to go back to the top of the premier league leaving Manchester United wondering if the points they dropped against Leeds were coming back to haunt them. Chelsea had winger Dennis Wise carried off due to an injury went behind to a comical goal from Ray Houghton.
Chelsea had gone 12 games without a win, while Villa stood two points clear on the top. Even though the goal Villa had scored was a bizarre one, it was a dominant display with a super performance from Paul McGrath in the defence.
