Swedish international defender Patrik Andersson had completed his transfer from Malmo to Blackburn Rovers for £800000. The Swede, who had finally obtained a work permit was included in Blackburn Rovers’ reserve team to play at Stoke later that day. Kenny Dalglish’s team had many attacking options but they were struggling at the back and Dalglish had realized that he will need to boost up his defence if he wanted to sustain a title challenge which had been faltering for the previous few weeks.
