Boro’s ace striker Paul Wilkinson was returning to his old stomping ground at Everton and would have been keen to prove a point to the Merseysiders. He won a league championship medal with Everton in 1987 and since then was shaken off as “reject” to become one of the most feared strikers in the premier league. He said “I’ve got great memories at Everton. I learned my trade here, played 22 games and won a championship medal. I’m really looking forward to going back. I won’t need any motivation for this one.”
