The premier league also announced a £3 million sponsorship deal with a soft drinks company. As a result of this sponsorship deal, the 22 member clubs would share the £1 million a year between them for the next three years. Earlier that season, many clubs had rejected a similar deal with a beer company since it clashed with their personal sponsorship arrangements.
