Chelsea coach Don Howe was back home after a scare over a chest condition and was expected to resume work later that week. Former England number two who had undergone triple bypass operations was admitted to hospital for tests after feeling unwell. Howe joined Chelsea earlier that season after quitting Coventry manager job and was helping the West London club under Ian Porterfield’s command
