Chelsea coach Don Howe was in the hospital for precautionary chest checks as his players prepared for that day’s match against Middleborough. Manager Ian Porterfield said that former England number 2 Howe – he had a triple heart bypass operation in 1988 – was admitted after feeling unwell. Porterfield issued a statement saying “Don Howe has a chest infection and as a precaution due to his previous history, he has gone to the hospital.”
