Conor Coady

#PremierLeagueStories – #NunoEspiritoSanto provide #ConorCoady update after the defender self isolated after Covid 19 scare #WWFC

Nuno Espirito Santo confirmed Conor Coady will be available for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ trip to Arsenal. The Wolves skipper missed the 1-1 draw with Southampton, with Nuno naming an XI without the centre-back for the first time since 2017. Coady was left out after he underwent a period of self-isolation following a coronavirus scare while on England duty. That meant Nuno opted to name a back-four, going against what has been seen for the entirety of the Portuguese’s tenure with the club. On the front foot, creating, pressing, creating huge problems for Southampton, good chances.” On the formation change, he said: “We managed the situation well, it’s been many many games with the same shape, the same lines and the reaction was good. The adaptation was very good, it requires character, it requires believing. The boys did that, I’m very proud of them.”
Adama Traore

#PremierLeagueStories – #NunoEspiritoSanto talks about #AdamaTraore contract situation amidst exit talks #WWFC

Nuno Espirito Santo has once again gone on the charm offensive with star winger Adama Traore. Wolverhampton Wanderers want to tie Traore down to a new contract at Molineux but negotiations between the club and his representatives have stalled. Traore still has three years remaining on his current contract so there’s little reason for Wolves to panic, but his suitors are likely to be encouraged by the stand-off. Wolves’ case is no doubt not being helped by Traore’s lack of game-time with Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto preferred in attack since the 4-0 defeat to West Ham in September. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will auto-play soon8Cancel Traore has played almost twice as many minutes for Spain (196) than he has for Wolves (99) since that night at the London Stadium. But Nuno remains adamant that Traore is still central to his plans at Wolves and gave the following response when asked whether he still hopes an agreement can be reached over a new deal. “Of course,” said Nuno, who has himself recently committed to Wolves. “Adama is a huge player for us. The impact that he has on the games, what he gives to the team, what he’s done over these two seasons. We want all the players to be happy here.” Traore will undoubtedly come into Nuno’s thinking for a starting place on Monday when Southampton visit Molineux, with Wolves looking to improve on a poor showing at Leicester prior to the international break. Coady was informed that he'd come into contact with someone who had tested positive for coronavirus while he was away with England and has been forced to self-isolate since. The 27-year-old, who contracted and recovered from the virus back in March, is hoping to be given the green light to feature on Monday. Wolves daily newsletter. Free. We are in contact and he has his individual training sessions but we still don’t know how he’s going to be. He is trying to maintain his level of fitness but he hasn’t been involved in training since the first day of England training." Coady has played every single minute in Wolves' last 119 league matches and no player has featured more for the club during Nuno's reign as head coach.
Willian Chelsea

#PremierLeagueStories – #MikelArteta talks about controversy of #Willian travelling to Dubai during international break #AFC

Mikel Arteta has provided an update on how Arsenal plan to deal with the fallout from Willian’s trip to Dubai. The 32-year-old was not called up by Brazil over the international break and travelled to Dubai, with the club reportedly unaware of the trip. Arsenal were only alerted to it after a picture emerged of the Brazilian standing alongside Nusret Gokce - more commonly known as‘ Salt Bae’ - at his Nusr-Et restaurant in Abu Dhabi. UK law dictates that people who travel to Dubai are not required to self-isolate, but Willian will have to return a negative test for COVID-19 before he is able to train again. Arsenal have also launched an internal enquiry into the issue. While neither the player nor the club have made any public statement on the matter, Mikel Arteta was insistent that it would be dealt with in house. That's been dealt with, explained and we move on.” Arteta did reveal that the pair had spoken and said that the situation is something he wants to be able to move on from quickly. “I had a conversation with him and explained what I was expecting,” he said. “There are a lot of personal factors at the moment from our side we need to be their shoes. Sometimes they're making decisions based on the needs, different moments or what people are expecting from them. “Whether they're right or wrong that's something we have to discuss but it's been dealt in the right way and let's move on.” If he is able to play on Sunday, Willian will be hoping to kickstart his season. The Brazilian has failed to score or assist since the opening day of the Premier League and has largely underwhelmed since his switch from Chelsea. Former Arsenal player Paul Merson claimed the 32-year-old looks 'lost' since the move, and called on Arteta to get more from him.
