Middlesborough 2 – Oldham 3

Lennie Lawrence blasted the “suicidal” mistakes which could cost Middlesborough their premier league place. Relegation rivals Oldham Athletic climbed out of the bottom three with a thrilling 3-2 win at Ayresome Park.

Lennie Lawrence said “We are barely alive. We have a mountain to climb if we are to survive. We were punished against Oldham because of defensive lapses.

This win clinched the double over Boro for the Manchester-based side and their manager Joe Royle was optimistic about his side’s own survival chances.

Joe Royle said “We have eight games left, five at home. I have said all along the relegation battle will go the last two weeks.”
