Neil Adams scored the goal that gave Oldham a precious victory over Manchester United and then backed Alex Ferguson’s team for the championship. His 26th-minute winner for the bottom club at Boundary park sparked fears that United’s title-chasing campaign may soon crumble in a similar fashion to last season. But Adams thought otherwise

Neil Adams said “To be fair, United were by far the better team and they have enough quality to stay at the top this year. The differences on the night was the tremendous spirit In our side. We were determined not to lose and we battled all over the field.”

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson said “We’ll have to be much more like ourselves in the last game. We can’t have any complains about the result at Oldham. We didn’t have enough composure in the last third of the field and got frustrated far too easily.”
