Chris Wilder thinks some of his Sheffield United stars must have made their way on to Gareth Southgate’s radar.

Chris Wilder said “I have bumped into Gareth on a couple of occasions when he’s been at a few of our games here, and I’m sure not always to watch opposition players either,’ said Wilder ahead of his side’s FA Cup trip to Millwall tomorrow. ‘I’m sure he wants to keep a close eye on one or two of our boys. I don’t believe he’s selective to the big clubs. He’s doing a brilliant job with young players and I believe he’ll pick players who are in form. Obviously our system is different to what a majority of England systems have been, but Gareth is such a good manager from a flexibility and tactical point of view and he will cover all bases. I’m sure he’ll have looked at a few of our players. There’s a really good group of English players that will be pushing hard to stake a claim and why shouldn’t some of my players be in the frame?”

The Blades, who have won plenty of plaudits as they have taken the Premier League storm, have a core of talented English players including George Baldock, Chris Basham, Jack O’Connell and John Lundstram, while on-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has already earned a call-up.

Sheffield United have signed defender Jack Robinson from Nottingham Forest for £1million.

Chris Wilder said “Jack Robinson got a great pedigree and he will make our squad stronger,’ said boss Chris Wilder after the 26-year-old signed a two-and-a-half year deal. Jack Robinson can comfortably play in a couple of roles and we are delighted to add him to the group. He’s got a fantastic attitude and he’s ambitious to earn a place in the team.”

Jack Robinson has revealed he didn’t need persuading to join Sheffield United after making the switch from Nottingham Forest earlier this week. The defender, who was out of contract at Forest in the summer, put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal at Bramall Lane after United paid Forest an undisclosed fee to secure his early release from the City Ground.
