Nuno Espirito Santo has told his Wolverhampton Wanderers players to cut out the late lapses after Everton became the latest team to hit them with a sucker-punch.
Nuno Espirito Santo said: “We played a good game, especially in the first half. In the second half there were not too many chances for both teams. We created a few chances but the game was decided on a set piece. We must be more focused and more aggressive in our own box. The boys tried hard but of course we are frustrated because it’s happened to us many times. We have to stop comparing what has happened before. We are in a different moment, we have different players. We must realise that we must do better.”
After 18 games Wolves have accumulated 22 points and sit in 14th position in the Premier League table. Wolves went through a summer of change with the likes of Matt Doherty and Diogo JOta leaving and a host of new players, many of whom are youngsters, arriving in their place.Wolves had other chances with Ruben Neves twice going close from range and Leander Dendoncker heading wide at the death. The defeat means Wolves are now five without victory in the Premier League and Keane’s header resulted in more dropped points after slip ups at Manchester United and Brighton. It’s also another late blow and eight of the goals Wolves have conceded across all competitions this season have arrived in the final 15 minutes.
