In the space of two months, Manchester United went from a team that couldn’t buy a goal to a team that was odds on favorite to live the title. None of their opponents were looking as good as them and there was little that could come in their way to winning the league.

The only issue that they had to face was a tough run of fixtures they would face at the start of March that could decide the fate of the title. United would play six matches in a space of 18 days and that included matches away at Liverpool – their arch-rivals, Oldham –a local derby, home to Aston Villa – their biggest title challengers, away to City in Manchester Derby and home to Arsenal.

United’s manager Alex Ferguson would know that if they could manage through these tricky fixtures, the title was there to take.
