Ossie Ardiles handed a chilling warning to the other 20 clubs trying to dethrone United as champions. Spurs manager’s assessment came after United won the match 2-1 and even though Alex Ferguson was joking about what his counterpart had to say about his team, Roy Keane was in no mood for sarcasm and warned others that the Red Devils were still not in their highest gear.
Ossie Ardiles said “If the rest of us aren’t careful, they could runaway with the title. There is no one to touch them at the moment. At this stage I can’t see anyone stopping them soon”
Alex Ferguson said “I wish there was just one week to go!”
Roy Keane said “I don’t think we have even got going yet. There is a lot more left in the team and myself. We are totally relaxed and totally confident. That confidence goes right through the squad and to the manager. Having said that the boss might be a different man if we suddenly started losing.”
