Ipswich extended their unbeaten run to 13 games when they denied Blackburn the chance to move within a point of the leaders Norwich in a pulsating final at Portman Road. With their record scorer Alan Shearer missing, it looked like that Blackburn would have to settle for a point but a dramatic late goal by Kiwomya ensured that East Anglian side did a huge favour to their neighbours Norwich.

Manchester United produced their most exhilarating display since scoring six against Oldham a year earlier, to advance into the second place in the premier league. Alex Ferguson was elated and said “We saw football today that was a delight to behold. Eric Cantona has given them a new dimension and Paul Ince’s performance was a revelation in a great barrage of attacking football.”

 

QPR 4 Everton 2 – Spirited Blues go down after going down to nine men

Nine Everton heroes came to within an ace of achieving mission impossible at Loftus Road. Two first-half dismissals meant that QPR was down to nine men and three goals. But a heroic second-half performance saw them pull two goals back before being dealt a killer blow when Rangers found the fourth goal to kill off spirited Toffees.
