With Eric Cantona making his full debut, Manchester United claimed their most important win of the season, cutting Norwich’s lead at the top to five points. Mark Hughes scored his fourth goal in four games as United continued their impressive run to climb to the second spot in the league and suddenly we’re looking like a real dark horse in a title race where Norwich, Blackburn Rovers, and Arsenal were considered to be the front runners.

Irish international Eddie McGoldrick spearheaded a Crystal palace revival to give the premier division strugglers a hard-earned win over QPR at Loftus Road. Mcgoldrick scored twice, as the lowly Eagles came from behind to beat Rangers 3-1 and register only their second away win of the season.

Ex-Manchester United player and Aston Villa star Paul Mcgrath sent his team in the top three in the table. In a controversial match, Mcgrath scored the vital goal in the 47th minute which proved to be the difference. But controversy irrupted in the 81st minute when he brought Roy Keane down just outside the penalty area but the referee refused to give a free-kick. Roy Keane chased the referee and Nigel Clough made his feelings clear post the final whistle.
