Nathan Ake shares insight of Eddie Howe’s coaching methods

Nathan Ake explained why his manager is so highly thought of in the Premier League and secrets behind Bournemouth’s sustainability in the top-flight.
Nathan Ake said “The manager expects us to improve every season, so he makes sure we never stand still. He promotes hard work as a team. So every season we want to do better, we want to grow as a team, as individual players, so I think a lot of that is down to him. The first thing we normally say ‘let’s have a good start’, like we did last season. It’s not necessarily just [about trying] to stay up. The manager puts a lot of trust in the players he knows.In training sessions we’re put in a team, and you have to work out what the other team are doing. Or if you’re a player down, how are you going to manage that. ”
One drill that Eddie Howe performs was picked up during pre season. It encourages gung-ho counter-attacking football, with a heavy overload on the defence. The goal is to come away with goals as quickly and show quick movement, fast runs and overlaps during counter attack. His strategy is simple – When in possession players must keep the ball by using a good weight of pass and touch. They need to show awareness of what’s around them, adopting good body positions as they do so. Out of possession the reaction must be to press. Team mates need to work together in closing down both space and opponents.If the defending team wins back possession, the roles reverse. The touch restrictions stay the same in the zones – the attacking team become defenders. Howe keeps things fresh by challenging his players more mentally than physically.

The club has stadium with smallest capacity in the division (11,364). Mateo Kovačić’s transfer from Real Madrid to Chelsea in June, following a year on loan, was met with some scrutiny due to an inconsistent first season from the midfielder, who seemed incapable of regularly completing 90 minutes at Premier League pace, despite being restricted to a large degree by Sarri’s rigid passing system.After Lampard’s takeover at Chelsea, career of Kovačić seems to have invigorated and transfer sum looks a bargain, as he has been one of the standout players at Chelsea and also one of the most in-form midfielders in the world.
On his improved form, Kovačić said ” My game is to open spaces for other people. It’s a big strength and I have felt I am trying it a lot more because we play a little bit different football to last year. Now we are more direct, more aggressive, we just try things we didn’t try last year. I feel better. I think my best position is in a midfield two. I can play as well in a midfield three, but in the two I feel maybe more comfortable with more freedom. But in the end the formation doesn’t matter too much. The coach was the greatest goalscoring midfielder that ever played. There were many, but he really scored a lot of goals. He tells me always that I need to shoot. Now I am trying more! It’s just a thing of mentality, to try to score, to be aggressive and to have the hunger to score goals. I want to improve that, I’m trying to improve that and I am sure I will get there.”

Premier League Museum Editor Notes: Kovacic has proven to be integral to the way Lampard’s Chelsea move the ball quickly from back to front and more often then not manage to bolt the door when they have to deal with an opposition counterattack. Also, interesting to note is the amount of competition that exists in Chelsea. For Kovacic position, there is N’golo Kante who may be fit again and Mason Mount who has been producing shining performances. The English manager will have a lot to think about when they face the Premier League champions, Manchester City but Kovacic definitely can take pride in being the top player that he once was with Real Madrid again.

Brandon Williams is the new Manchester United academy graduate who has made feisty debut with wins against European teams and more recently against premier league side Brighton & Hove Albion FC. The teenage left-back has wowed boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United fans since bursting on to the scene.
Brad Williams’ progress has been so fast and impressive that senior members of Solskjaer’s coaching staff believe he is on track to overtake Shaw – and has the potential to become United’s number one this season. His impressive performances have left Luke Shaw – injured since August – battling for his Old Trafford future. The 19-year-old starlet takes no prisoners – and club insiders say that even United hard man Marcos Rojo admires the youngster’s aggression and tenacity. Bread Williams is a cousin of Super Feather-weight English boxing champion Zelfa Barrett – and clearly shares his love of getting stuck in after a string of dust-ups since breaking through to the first team.
Williams jostled with Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi in the EFL cup victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, sending the England star over an advertising hoarding. And he clashed with Brighton attacker Neal Maupay in a similar tussle on his full Premier League debut ahead of the international break. Brad Williams was warned by Manchester United coaches to cool it after being sent off in a pre-season friendly for head-butting captain of opposing team.
Everyone inside Manchester United club think Brad Williams has got a big future ahead of him, and that’s been recognized with Manchester United manager happy to play him against Brighton.

History of Manchester United in past seasons has brought some interesting young players to the forefront in such scenarios – Marcus Rashford, Tammy Abraham have all been given chances due to the constraints their clubs were facing. Coming back to Brad Williams, the 18-year-old defender travelled to the French capital with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his squad when there was no-one else to look up on left wing. A full-back capable of playing on both flanks, Williams tends to be deployed on the left for the United youth teams. He played a key role as Manchester United young squad won the Premier League North title in April 2018 after which Williams was duly rewarded with his first professional contract that same month.
