#PremierLeagueStories – Burnley Striker #AshleyBarnes still “in love” with ex club Brighton #BHAFC #BurnleyFC

Ashley Barnes Burnley

The man hailed as Brighton’s most under-rated player of recent years admits he never expected to leave the club. But Ashley Barnes has great memories of being a ‘Marmite’ man at the Amex. Barnes was recognised as the Seagulls’ most unsung hero by former skippers Gordon Greer and Bruno and the current Burnley striker did not tend to be a fans’ favourite at the Amex and was let go midway through the 2013-14 season. But even his critics in the stands would welcome him back now after he went on to be a Premier League success.

Ashley Barnes said: “I still love Brighton very deeply. I still speak to everyone if I have a chance. I left on really good terms. I loved it there and that is what hurt me. I couldn’t see myself ever leaving but it happened. All good things have to come to an end at some stage and that was my time to move on.”
