#PremierLeagueStories – AFC Bournemouth #AFCB player #LewisCook remembers his first moments with Cherries

Lewis Cook AFC Bournemouth

Lewis Cook revealed he had been “blown away” by his first training session at Bournemouth as he adjusted to make the step up to the Premier League. Signed from boyhood club Leeds in the summer of 2016, the 23-year-old has since gone on to play 68 times at England’s elite level as well as earn a senior international cap for England. But reflecting on his first moments on the training ground with the Dorset club, Cook said he had been trying to get used to the intensity.

Lewis Cook said “I had never been on loan or anything to different teams. The only time I had been with other players was at England. I was very nervous for that, meeting new players was the main thing. But as soon as you get to a different club, you know straight away, it’s exactly the same feel. Bournemouth is similar to Leeds as in it’s a family club and everyone is really nice there. When I got there and started training, I felt like the standard had gone up a lot higher. I remember my first training session there was incredible. The intensity and the passing, I was just a bit blown away. But then I started easing my way into it and getting used to it. I felt like I could compete and survive.”
