Romelu Lukaku has revealed his love of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after their brief stint together at Manchester United. Shortly after moving to Italy, Lukaku revealed that he knew it was time to leave United when Solskjaer deployed him as a winger.  Yet, speaking last year, the attacker, who has flourished at Inter under Antonio Conte, said he had plenty of respect for Solskjaer due to his decision not to stand in Lukaku’s way out of Old Trafford.

Romelu Lukaku  said “He is doing great. You guys have to know I love him as a manager and as a person and I wish him nothing but the best. It was a difficult situation where for myself I had to make a decision where I have to go somewhere where I can learn other aspects of my game and work with somebody that wanted me as well. Ole wanted me to stay, but I told him I was over. I didn’t have the energy. All credit to him because he’s been a man and he helped me make the move away.”

Lukaku was also asked his thoughts on Marcus Rashford in the Q&A, hailing his former United teammate’s development as a player.

Romelu Lukaku said: “He is improving all the time! I love to see him play. One of the most talented (I) played with for sure.”

The Belgian forward spent nine months under Solskjaer’s management at Old Trafford after the Norwegian replaced Jose Mourinho in December 2018. Lukaku was subsequently sold to Inter Milan in Solskjaer’s first summer as manager, but the 27-year-old still holds his former boss in high regards.
