Tottenham star Son Heung-Min has called Antonio Conte the best manager after defeating Vitesse 3-2. Spurs came flying out of the blocks in the Europa Conference League against the Dutch side, netting three goals in the opening half an hour, with Son opening the scoring in the 14th minute. Eventually, the Lillywhites held on as the visitors received two late red cards themselves, with Son admitting that Romero was unlucky to be sent off.
Heung-min Son said: “Cristian didn’t mean it, he didn’t want to get a red card obviously, he anticipated the game and unluckily he got a red card and as a team we have to suffer the situation and we did well.” Things (in) football happen. You know, sometimes you get red cards that shouldn’t happen but with this reality, we need to take a big responsibility for everybody and it was a good lesson again.”
He also revealed what Conte said to him after the final whistle, claiming that the Italian coach states that suffering for a win is sometimes essential.
Heung-min Son added: “No, nothing special. So obviously sometimes we need to be suffering because, for most of our wins, that’s the reality. So that’s what he said but he doesn’t want to say many many things, obviously he took only two sessions for this game it was hard for him and for the players as well but I think we did well, especially in the first 30 minutes and we are looking forward to work with him.”
The 29-year-old admitted that he is extremely excited to work with Conte, calling him the greatest manager.
Heung-min Son said: “To be honest I’m always excited to play football and I’ve had the greatest managers, Pochettino, Nuno, Mourinho and now Antonio Conte and I’m really really looking forward to work with the greatest manager and learn what I can.”
