The mood around Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Fabio Silva has completely shifted. People are beginning to look past the astonishing sum of money Wolves paid Porto for the 18-year-old last year. Instead, the focus is now on the talent within the slender frame that Wolves valued at a club-record £35million. But his performance – full of energy, enthusiasm and outstanding movement – was the latest in a sequence of promising showings. Speaking about Silva afterwards,

Nuno Espirito Santo said: “I truly believe that Fabio, with his talent, the moment that he’s able to match the physical part of the game that is required in the Premier League he will become better.”

On his own performance,

Fabio Silva said: “Not only the goal, about what I did in the game, my movements helped the team, this is most important and I’m very happy to help the team.”

It seems implausible that Willian’s loan move could be made permanent, so his Wolves legacy could be that he played a part in allowing Silva to find his feet.
