Danny Welbeck was “really pleased” with his goal which saw off Leeds. The Seagulls moved ten points clear of the drop zone with four games to go as they beat Leeds 2-0. Welbeck secured the points with a superb goal going into the last ten minutes.

Danny Welbeck said: “It’s one of those situations where the ball is in the air and you’re looking around in your peripheral. You see what sort of solutions you can go to next. Once the ball was in there and I have seen where the defenders are, I knew that turn would come off. You do it in training and then it’s nice for it come out in a game. I am really pleased with that goal.”

Albion climbed to 14th in the table pending results for Burnley today and Newcastle tomorrow. They are now set for a fifth successive Premier League season. But Welbeck says the ambition should be to pish on.

Danny Welbeck added: “I’ve touched on it before. With the group of players we have I know we can do much better than we are at the moment. It’s those small differences. It’s the harsh reality of the Premier League. We’ve got a good group of players and the right staff here to push on and achieve more and be fighting not just to be in this league.”
