Aston Villa player Tyrone Mings has responded to ‘negativity’ around the club’s current poor run of form. Villa have won just twice in their last 11 Premier League games and have seen their charge for a place in next season’s European competition turn into a battle for a top-half finish.

Tyrone Mings said: “It’s easy to be frustrated and consumed in negativity when we haven’t delivered positive results on the pitch. But, for Wes, 480 days is one hell of a lonely road and a huge achievement. Keinan’s first Premier League goal is so deserved, so let’s keep up the positive vibes.”

Mings’ boss, Dean Smith, thought a point was warranted if not more.

Tyrone Mings said: “I think it was the least we deserved, it would have been a travesty if we had been beaten. It was a good moment for Keinan, he is a well-respected and liked player. He has needed that goal and it has given him a great boost. We controlled the ball really well, we moved it well and caused them problems. We showed we can be a team when Jack is not playing.”
