Injuries have disrupted what promised to be a good first full season at Wolverhampton Wanderers for Daniel Podence. Podence joined Wolves at the end of January 2020 and within two months found himself in lockdown in a completely new country away from his family and friends.

Daniel Podence said: “My life here has not been easy. Since my second month here I am in lockdown so it is a little bit difficult to describe my life. But every weekend is a good challenge for me and I am happy with that.”

Since moving to Wolves Podence has forced his way into Portugal’s set-up and will be one of the favourites to replace teammate Pedro Neto in the squad for the Euros after his season-ending injury.

Daniel Podence added: “This season I have had two difficult injuries that make my chances of going smaller, but I still believe. Yes, we are one of the favourites. We have great players and a good team, which fight every game.”

Podence went on to reveal his desire to emulate his ‘personal friend’ Cristiano Ronaldo and win the Ballon d’Or, before firing a message to his critics.

Daniel Podence said: “Wait for me. I have just started.”
