Luke Shaw has admitted he’s desperate to make England’s squad for this summer’s European Championships after making his return to international football.

Luke Shaw  said “The last two years, I’ve been watching the game and really regretting not being able to take my chance when I’ve had them. I’m so happy to be back. Even if I’m not playing and I’m around the squad, it’s still brilliant. Of course, I’d love to be in the Euros squad. I think every single Englishman would want to. There’s very high competition, Chilly (Chilwell) played the other night and he was outstanding. He’s a really, really good player. Competition is great and I’ll keep pushing myself.”

Roy Keane lavished further praise on Shaw after the match.

Roy Keane said “Shaw, this year, has been outstanding. Especially with his history with injuries over the last few years, under Mourinho, he’s been consistent this year. Going forward, but defensively I think he has the edge over the other full-backs in the England squad. I think he’s improved that and nobody has really got the better of him this season in one vs ones.”

The Manchester United defender kept a clean sheet and registered an assist on his Three Lions comeback as they beat Albania 2-0. Harry Kane opened the scoring as he headed home a delicious cross from Shaw, a sight that United fans have become accustomed to after the left-back’s dazzling form this season. Ben Chilwell and Buakyo Saka are Shaw ‘s biggest competitors in that position and after the game, the United man reiterated his happiness to be back in the England camp.
