Kelechi Iheanacho has been in the form of his career in recent weeks while helping Leicester to strengthen their grip on a top four position. The striker not only scored in a third Premier League match in a row, but also netted his first Premier League hat trick. However, Iheanacho’s form means that the striker would currently be first in line for the future role. It’s something that he talked about ahead of the match.

Kelechi Ihenacho said: “If the chance comes for me to replace him [Vardy] one day, I will take the chance but for now I think he’s playing now and he’s doing well,”

The duo played in a front two in the match against the Blades, with the two linking up to great effect. While Vardy didn’t get on the scoresheet himself, the forward played a major part in three of the five goals on Sunday afternoon, providing two assists to his strike partner.

Kelechi Ihenacho said: “I’m really happy playing alongside him. Playing with Jamie gives me more options to sometimes come deep to receive the ball.”

Brendan Rodgers’ decision to stick with three at the back in order to play Vardy and Iheanacho together has been praised by pundits.
