#PLStories – #JoseMourinho confident about #HarryKane being ready for #NorthLondon derby #THFC #ArsenalFC

Harry Kane Tottenham

Jose Mourinho is expecting Harry Kane to be fit enough to play for Tottenham in the north London derby against Arsenal on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho said “I hope so and I believe so,” he replied when asked if Kane will be available for the 4.30pm kick-off at the Emirates Stadium. “It’s a big match and he will expect to be there.”

Kane scored both of Spurs’ goals in their comfortable 2-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in their Europa League last-16 first leg on Thursday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He put the hosts in front with a tap-in rebound after Erik Lamela hit the post and doubled Tottenham’s advantage when Kevin Theophile-Catherine failed to clear Serge Aurier’s cross in the second half. However, it wasn’t the perfect night for Kane and Jose Mourinho’s side, with the 27-year-old striker suffering a knock late on. Kane was brought down by a heavy challenge, sustaining a blow to his right knee, and although he tried to run it off, Mourinho was forced to bring on Carlos Vinicius in his place in the 84th minute. Kane looked uncomfortable as he left the pitch and was quickly given an ice pack for his right knee by the Spurs physio as he sat on the bench. That view worried Tottenham supporters, who feared he might not be available for Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal, who beat Olympiacos 3-1 in their Europa League tie on Thursday. Mourinho was able to allay those fears in his post-match press conference, playing down the severity of Kane’s knock.
