#PLStories – #PatrickBamford loves what his ex teammate DeleAlli did in #EuropaLeague #THFC

Dele Alli

Patrick Bamford returned the message of congratulations to Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli after the midfielder scored a brilliant overhead kick against Wolfsberger in the Europa League. Dele and Bamford were teammates at MK Dons and have stayed in touch ever since. After Bamford scored a brilliant hat-trick against Aston Villa earlier this season, one of the best individual performances of the season, Dele sent him a congratulatory message on social media.

Writing on his Instagram story, Dele Alli said: “My brother @patrick_bamford. So proud and happy for you.” And now the Leeds striker, after watching Dele’s own brilliant moment of individual skill, returned the favour.

The Spurs man scored a sensational bicycle kick against Wolfsberger in the Europa League Round of 32 on Wednesday night. After shifting the ball out to the right, Dele moved into the penalty area. As he controlled the cross, the ball looped up in the air behind his back. Dele, instinctively, leapt off the ground, contorted his body, and steered a brilliant finish into the bottom corner.

Bamford wrote: “Absolutely buzzing for you @dele_official,” adding a love heart and a praise emoji.

Bamford scored his 13th Premier League goal of the season against Southampton on Tuesday night. Afterwards, the striker dedicated his goal to Kalvin Phillips, who is currently out through injury and is dealing with the passing of his grandma.

Patrick Bamford  said “To be honest it was a great ball from Tyler [Roberts], he played a similar one against Wolves which got ruled out. It was a great pass and it was just about hitting it hard across the ‘keeper. The squad is very together, I have said it in a lot of interviews before. We’re a tight-knit bunch of lads and I think that anyone who has watched the documentary on Amazon that Granny Val was a big part of the club. Loads of people have grown to love her, without ever really knowing her, it’s a big loss. That was for Kalvin and his family. We said before we started the warm up that it was more important than anything to win today, no matter how we did it. To be honest it was quite an even game, I think first half especially. They’re the first team I have seen come and press, similarly to the way we did, so it made it difficult and it was then really about who got the first goal. Fortunately we got it, then went on to get three points.”

Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United have proven to be a perfect fit, with the legendary Argentine guiding Leeds back to the promised land. Now the Whites will be determined to uproot expectations and cement their top-tier status. However, if recent history is anything to go by, Bielsa and Leeds will have an explosive impact.
