Pep Guardiola has seen enough from Arsenal’s recent performances to believe they can soon challenge for the Premier League title.
Pep Guardiola said: “All the managers need time and he is not an exception but in the last month or two every game Arsenal has played they have been better than the opponent. As a manager you want the results you deserve, and sometimes it doesn’t happen and you lose. But what we want to deserve he is doing and the games they have played in the last month they were always better in terms of the control of the game, creating more chances and conceding few. We’ll need to play as good as possible with the ball and run a lot in the right tempo because they have exceptional build up, the quality and energy they have with [Emile] Smith-Rowe, [Bukayo] Saka and [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang and all the players with the quality in the middle to make the process well. That’s why already in the present and in the early future they’ll be a real contender to fight for the titles.”
The Blues are on course for a third title win in four years after establishing a healthy lead thanks to a 12-match winning run, and Carlo Ancelotti declared them the best team Everton had faced after their 3-1 win at Goodison in midweek. While Arsenal may not be getting the results that Arteta wants, City boss Guardiola thinks that their performances suggest the wins that they deserve will come if they keep playing as they have been doing.
