#PL Stories- Burnley loanee #AdamPhillips on his #AccringtonStanley loan experience #BurnleyFC

Adam Phillips feels it is only a matter of time before he celebrates his first win with Accrington Stanley. The attacking midfielder, who has signed on loan from Premier League neighbours Burnley for the rest of the season, made his debut in Saturday’s goalless draw with Northampton Town and was one of the star performers in a 1-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle at the Wham Stadium on Tuesday night. It was a game that the Reds dominated, with manager John Coleman declaring it “probably the best we have played this season”.

Stanley created a host of chances, including one for Phillips, which crashed against the crossbar.

Adam Phillips said: “We just kept knocking on the door but the ball just wouldn’t go into the back of the net,” said the 23-year-old. If we keep playing like that I’m sure the goals will start coming and we will start picking up points. It’s a frustrating one but we’ve just got to keep playing the football we can play. I hit the bar and then the keeper has pulled off a worldie save. If I just keep getting into the box I’m sure the goals will come.”

Phillips starred for Morecambe in the first half of the season, scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions. And he has noticed the difference in making the step up from League Two to League One.

Adam Phillips said: “I think the quality of players is maybe a little bit better, the tempo’s a lot faster. It’s been good and I think I’ve settled in well. There are a lot of good players here. There are a lot of games so I think it’s always good to have depth and good players in the squad. It will push us on and hopefully we will have a good end to the season. It will be a tough game at Lincoln on Saturday, but if we perform like we did (against Plymouth) and create the chances I’m sure we can get a result.”
