Rhian Brewster cannot seem to buy a goal at Sheffield United and after being restored to the starting lineup for the visit of Bristol City in the FA Cup, could not take the opportunity afforded him against Championship opposition. It wasn’t for the want of trying, it seldom is with a striker who is prepared to put in the hard yards but the ball just would not quite drop for him at Bramall Lane as the Blades progressed 1-0 thanks to Billy Sharp’s second-half penalty.

Rhian Brewester said: “Nice work from the boys. On to the quarters!”

Wilder backed up his pre-match comments after the game by fielding questions on his big summer signing’s continued struggles but insisted he was backing the former Liverpool prodigy to come good.

Chris Wilder on his post-match press conference said: “He’s trying and it’s just not going for him, Rhian will be good. He’s a good player with a bright future. Sometimes getting that first one is the hardest and hopefully, he’ll get up and running.”
