Paul Pogba insists he did not apologise to his Manchester United teammates following Sunday’s game away to Liverpool. However, speaking after the win over Fulham, the United midfielder rejected that claim.

Paul Pogba said “It is not like I apologised, but I was really mad,” Pogba told BT Sport. “I was really mad that I was close to the goal and maybe should’ve done better. But today it went in so I am really happy. Most important was the win today. We did it the hard way and did it the beautiful way.”

United were held to a goalless draw at Anfield on Sunday afternoon but returned to winning ways with a victory over Fulham on Wednesday night. The 27-year-old struck straight at Alisson late on and one newspaper report subsequently suggested he had apologised to his teammates in the Anfield dressing room. Pogba stole the show at Craven Cottage with a sensational winning goal after Edinson Cavani had cancelled out an early Ademola Lookman strike. It was a moment of relief for Pogba after he had squandered a superb chance to win the match for United against Liverpool three days earlier.
