Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey says West Brom should make a move for Bournemouth striker Josh King  in the January window.

Emile Heskey said “He gives you that pace, that directness, he understands the league. He’s an international player. I think they ( West Brom and West Ham) should be looking at someone like him. Getting him at this part of the season, he should be able to hit the ground running because he knows what it’s about.”

The Baggies are eager to bolster their squad before the transfer window shuts on February 1 with Robert Snodgrass their only major arrival so far. With Karlan Grant out until February with a foot injury, Allardyce is said to be keen on adding a forward to the squad with King tipped to leave Bournemouth in the January window. Aston Villa have been consistently linked with a move for King in recent months, but Heskey feels the Baggies should be making a concerted effort to bring him to the Hawthorns.

King was a transfer target for Manchester United last January, but last year had hinted at a potential switch from the Cherries.

Josh King said “If you had asked me two months ago if I thought I would be in Bournemouth (now), I would have answered 110 per cent no. It is a bit special to be a football player who has nine months left on his contract. We’ll see if I go now or in January. Had it been up to me, I would have already signed for a club and started the season, played four games and been in top form. I think the club would rather I be there but, like I said, I felt I had done my part and been loyal to the club for many years. We had an agreement between us (that he could leave) after what happened in January.”
