#PremierLeagueStories – #PepGuardiola compares his players to Manchester weather to describe Man City attack #MCFC

Pep Guardiola used the Manchester weather to suggest that Manchester City’s goalscoring issues are not over. The defending Carabao Cup champions put four past Arsenal to reach the semi-finals of the competition, with Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte all netting at the Emirates. In a season where the team have struggled to put the ball in the net, scoring twice as many in 90 minutes than they have in their last three matches combined was seen by some as a positive. However, Guardiola pointed out the luck that was involved in the second and third goals and was keen to play down the idea that such a spree would see the end of their frustrations in front of goal this season. The City boss picked an analogy of Manchester sunshine to make his point.

Pep Guardiola said “It’s like in Manchester. It rains every day, When one day the sun rises it doesn’t mean the weather is going to change. It is just one game but we will see what happens in the future. But we are happy to be in the semi-finals again, four years in a row. We started good, we struggled when they changed the set-up. They started with five at the back and when they changed to four we struggled a little bit. Our play in the second half was much better and after the second and third goal in this kind of knockout games they are so important.”
