Harry Kane believes that Gareth Bale and Joe Hart’s experience of winning trophies has made a big impact in the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room. The Spurs striker and England captain has had a great start to the season himself and as one of the leaders in Jose Mourinho’s side he has made a point of making every one of the club’s seven summer transfer window signings feel welcome at the club.
Harry Kane said “I think for me, being one of the leaders in the team, I feel like you always need to get to know your team-mates and talk to them so that they feel comfortable talking to you, Obviously, I remember what it was like being a young kid coming into the first team – it is never easy. I just try to get to know everyone, whether they’re new, whether they’re young I get to know them as people on and off the pitch and I think that really makes a difference when you are playing. The new boys that joined us over the summer have been great; they’ve settled in really quickly. They’ve been playing really well whenever they have been on the pitch. I think Harty has been a big boost to have in the changing room, to have that experience of winning major titles, which is the same as Gareth as well. Everyone that has come in has been doing really well so we have real competition all over the pitch and that is healthy competition, which hopefully continues. We know we have things to improve on, but we have to just keep going and moving in the right direction. Confidence is key for us, but I think a bit of humility as well – knowing there is a long way to go in this season still and that we don’t get too carried away. Obviously, Manchester City are a fantastic team and have been one of the best sides in Europe in recent history. So, we know it is going to be a very tough game, but we also know that on our day, we can beat anyone. We just have to go into the game with the mindset that we have a game plan and we stick to that, we work hard for each other, work hard as a team and then, of course, we can get a result. But, even after this, there are still a lot of tough games to come for us this season so we can only take them one at a time and then we will see what happens.”
