Brendan Rodgers admits there are still plenty of challenges ahead for his table topping Leicester City side. But the Foxes’ boss couldn’t be happier with his players’ outstanding start to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign, getting off to a flyer with six wins out of eight as they look to build on last season’s fifth place finish. Add to that an impressive Europa League campaign to date when they have won all three of their opening games to top their group and advance to the knockout stage of the competition, and the fans couldn’t ask for much more. Having finished 12th, 9th (consecutive seasons) and 5th since being crowned Premier League Champions in 2016, City are clearly building towards establishing themselves as a regular top six side.

Brendan Rodgers said “I don’t think we could’ve asked for a better start, Everyone probably questioned how we would start this season after the back end of last season, but I’ve always said that failing is learning. If anyone sees us not getting into the Champions League as failure, then okay. For us, it was about learning and developing and making sure we could continue to keep improving. I think there’s a real sense that the players did really well last year. When we spoke on it in pre-season, we understood that we want to continue to develop and improve. We’re not going to win every game, but the experiences of last year have allowed us to grow and develop as a team and we’ll look to put that in place this season. We’ve won nine in all competitions, so it’s been an incredible focus we’ve had in a period with so many players out, so our idea is to look to sustain that. I can’t promise it. I’d love to say we’re going to win every game, but we won’t and we will lose games, but like we did after the last defeat, we’ll learn from it, analyse it – and then let’s continue to move on.”
