Scott McTominay has challenged his Manchester United teammates to repeat their Paris Saint-Germain heroics against RB Leipzig.

Scott McTominay  said “With a big win on Wednesday, it would be massive for everybody and the confidence that we are getting each week, and match by match, it would be really beneficial for the squad. There’s no point going away to Paris, when it is a big game and the whole world is watching, and doing really well, and then not playing as well or doing all the right things that got you the win in Paris at home against Leipzig. We know the intensity that they will bring. They are a terrific team, I watched them a lot last year with a lot of the coaches in the Champions League games that they played. They’re a very, very intense team with a good coach and good players as well, so it is not going to be an easy game at all.”

United head into their second Champions League group stage encounter, hosting Leipzig at Old Trafford, on the back of an excellent 2-1 win at the Parc des Princes. It was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s second statement win over PSG and gives United a boost going into the rest of their campaign. But McTominay insists that the victory will mean nothing if United slip up at home to the Bundesliga outfit. The Scot wants his fellow players to string some consistent performances together..

United are unbeaten since the international break after wins over Newcastle and PSG, and a draw against Chelsea. Next up is a home game against RB Leipzig, with Edinson Cavani in contention to make his European debut for the club. Midfielder McTominay has returned to some decent form of his own in recent weeks, forming a solid midfield partnership with Fred. Solskjaer could well turn to the duo again to protect his back four against the dangerous Leipzig, who reached the Champions League semi-finals last season.
